OVERVIEW
In the Academic Immersion Program, we use rigorous curriculum designed for elementary and middle school age students with different learning styles and needs. We teach in accordance with the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and all of our teachers are trained in ABA. This means that we continue to adapt our teaching style until your child learns best.
We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We recognize that every child is unique and that an academic program must be tailored for each individual child. We help students achieve their full potential by offering a smaller, hands-on, interactive learning environment.
There are no reduced expectations for our students. We teach the same material as traditional schools, but we teach it in a way that matches our students’ individual learning styles so that they experience academic success instead of frustration and feelings of failure. We know that how children learn is as important as what they learn.
Our program equips students with the confidence and study/organizational skills to successfully transition to a traditional school, if desired.
We are not a “self contained” classroom. We are a school within a school that believes in using direct instruction, non-traditional teaching methods, and mainstreaming opportunities for specials (e.g., Music, Art, Spanish, etc.) when the children are ready to attend such classes without extra support or supervision. When middle school students show readiness both academically and socially, they may attend regular middle school core classes with support and accountability checks from the AIP teachers.
As part of St. Paul Lutheran School, we share in the vision to, “Provide comprehensive educational excellence that nurtures the spirit, engages the mind and equips learners to transform their community through Christ.”
OUR MISSION
To maximize the potential of children with learning challenges through small class size/individual attention, non-traditional teaching methods, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and customized learning plans/curriculums.
